Rules Governing Ladies Competitions

TERMS OF COMPETITION

(LADIES) 2026

 

1. Ladies’ competitions are played on Sunday afternoons (alternate day) and Tuesday (main day) unless otherwise stated.

 

There will be a 9-hole STB (qualifying) competition each week unless otherwise stated

 

2. Competition Entry, Score Card, Score Entry and Return of Score Cards:

 

• A player must enter the Weekly Competition on the computer before commencing play. If the computer is not in use, she must enter her name, handicap index and the last 4 digits of her membership number in the correct place in the Competition Book. Competition entry fees are now deducted from your card, whether you enter on the computer or in the Competition Book.

 

• A player has sole responsibility for having her name and correct handicaps (handicap Index, course handicap and playing handicap) on her scorecard, along with the signature of both the player and the marker, who must be an adult fellow competitor or a member of Donegal Golf Club and hold a current WHS handicap.

 

• A player should enter her hole-by-hole score into the computer immediately after play, including PU (Pick up) or NP (not played) Please do not input Zero (0) score.

 

3. Break of Ties (BOT) shall be decided as follows:

 

18 holes:

• Decide on last 9, 6, 3, 1 holes
• If still a tie, decide on the last 6, 3, 1 of the first 9 holes
• If still a tie, decide by lot

 

9 holes:

• Decide on the last 6, 3, 1 holes
• If still a tie, decide by lot

 

4. Lady Captain’s, Captain’s, President’s Prizes:

1st Prize in these competitions may be won by any Lady Member, who has a fully developed handicap and who has played and returned cards for at least 54 holes in Club Qualifying Competition in the current year.  Junior members must also have a handicap of 39.9 or lower.

 

5. Handicap Index Limit

The Ladies’ Committee reserves the right to limit the Handicap index in competitions.

 

6. A minimum number of entrants is required for competitions as follows:

18 hole: 15

9 hole:  7

 

7. Competition Entry Fee:

Weekly Competitions – 18 holes €5

Lady Captain’s, Captain’s and Presidents’ Prizes €6

8   The R & A / USGA Rules of Golf apply in all Competitions:

 

• A cancelled sponsored competition will be re-arranged, if and when possible. The Ladies’ Committee reserves the right to amend these conditions at any time.

 

• Failure to comply with terms of competition may result in disqualification.

9  Players are requested to complete the score card as follows:

 

STROKE – enter total of your gross scores, total and deduct your handicap and enter your net score and put card in the box provided.

 

STABLEFORD – enter your gross scores and Stableford points for each hole, total and put card in the box provided.

 

 

10  Players are encouraged to play in 3 or 4 balls in the Tuesday/ Sunday competitions.

 

 

11 Golfer of the Year:

The Competition will run from 1^st March – 30^th September and include all 18 Hole Club Sponsored Competitions, (excluding Sweeps). Points will be awarded to the top 10 each week –

1^st – 10 points

2nd – 9 points
